Release: [alces010] Sintecoraz
Label: Alces2
Sintecoraz’s selftitled release on Alces2 really brings a smile to my face. This Venezuelan artist blends sweet little catchy chiptune melodies and pop into a nice piece of music that’s just… well… happy and cuddly.
For us who grew up with a nintendo and/or a C64 it’s a real nostalgia trip. The chiptune’ish scene really is quite big these days, but I do feel that Sintecoraz does stand out from the general crowd when he blends the chipsound with guitars and other instruments.
Some of the tracks goes a bit too chiptunes (“Entre tus flores” and “Super Van” get quite too much) but tracks such as “May” and “Y Johny” are so charming with the guitar blending in perfectly that I can overlook them.
It’s not the greatest chiptune pop ever created, but it’s definitly worth a listen, if only just to sit back, smile and go on a nostalgia trip to a time when each pixel was visible.
